Here is the schedule for New Year at the Cathedral. Remember that January 1, the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God is a day of obligation for Catholics to attend Holy Mass.
Sunday December 31
Solemn Vespers, Te Deum & Benediction with the Archbishop at 5:30 PM
With the recitation of the Te Deum there is a plenary indulgence attached. The Te Deum a prayer of thanksgiving of the Church. This prayer is traditionally chanted on the last day of the year to give thanks to God for all the blessings we received in the year.
Midnight Holy Hour starting at 11 PM
To bring in the New Year we will have this Holy Hour with the recitation of the Te Deum and the recitation of the Veni Creator after the New Year.
